In October of 2010 I was made a member of the Peter Lewis Gallery, 5 Church Hill, St. John’s, NL. www.artofpeterlewis.com
In August 2010 I had a very successful exhibition at The Wooden Boat Museum in Winterton with people visiting from as far away as Australia. I enjoyed it very much. The exhibition Honest Endeavours coincided with the celebrations of John Guy’s colony at Cupids with his ship The Indeavour.
During the time of the exhibition I did a full day demonstration in portraiture and was lucky enough to have as my model Kevin Coates the world known Winterton Woodcarver. On that day I was excited to see many people at the demonstration and many questions were answered. The portrait entitled Kevin Carving was selected for the upcoming 2011 Arts and Letters Competition that will be opening at the Rooms on April 5th. I was happy for Kevin as well as myself as he must have been very uncomfortable on that day under the hot light. But in his quiet way he never complained.
Here is the image of the pastel portrait. I hope I have done justice to Kevin.
